HOW BIG IS PIAGGIO?
Exhibit
|September 2025
From Italy to India, Piaggio moves the world
When you hear the name Piaggio, what probably comes to mind first is the iconic Vespa, a symbol of stylish urban mobility that has zipped through the streets of Rome, Paris, and yes, even Mumbai.
But Piaggio is more than just Vespa. It's a global mobility powerhouse with a diversified portfolio of brands, cutting-edge innovation, and a rich legacy that spans over a century.
Headquartered in Pontedera, Italy, Piaggio is one of the oldest two-wheeler manufacturers in the world. Its origins go back to 1884, when it began as a manufacturer of locomotives and railway carriages. Today, the company operates in over 100 countries and owns several globally respected brands, including Vespa, Aprilia, Moto Guzzi, Piaggio, and Derbi. Its wide array of offerings covers scooters, motorcycles, and three-wheelers, with a growing focus on electric and hybrid mobility.
PIAGGIO IN NUMBERS
The scale of Piaggio's operations is impressive. As of 2024, the Piaggio Group employs over 6,500 people globally and has six manufacturing plants. Three of them are in Italy, one in India, one in Vietnam, and another in Indonesia. The company owns over 4,000 patents and invests heavily in research and development to stay ahead in the mobility game. In terms of financials, Piaggio Group's net revenue crossed €2 billion in 2023. With over 6,00,000 two-wheelers and more than 1,50,000 three-wheelers sold globally that year, it remains a formidable force in both urban and commercial transport sectors.
