BYTEDANCE PUSHES INTO CUSTOM AI CHIPS TO SECURE COMPUTE SUPPLY
AppleMagazine
|February 13, 2026
ByteDance is accelerating its push into artificial intelligence infrastructure by developing its own custom Al processor, a move aimed at securing long-term access to high-performance computing resources as demand for advanced chips intensifies worldwide.
-
According to industry sources, the company is negotiating with Samsung Electronics to manufacture the processors and plans to produce at least 100,000 units in the initial phase of deployment.
The initiative reflects a broader industry shift in which major technology platforms are designing proprietary silicon to reduce reliance on third-party chipmakers and manage the soaring costs associated with training and operating large-scale Al models. By controlling its own chip roadmap, ByteDance aims to optimize performance for its recommendation engines, generative Al systems, and large-language-model workloads that power services across TikTok and its enterprise cloud operations.
