Liverpool run away with the title after a far from vintage Premier League season

Slot’s Reds too good for the rest

Liverpool won the Premier League title in a race that became a procession. Arsenal threatened for a while but their own flaws, and Liverpool's strengths, settled the argument early. In the marathon of a title race, Liverpool enjoyed the luxury of completing the final stretch waving to their crowd, basking in their achievement.

Having won their last title behind closed doors during the pandemic, Liverpool celebrated loudly with their fans. The celebrations had even more of an added intensity because victory took Liverpool back alongside Manchester United on 20 league titles. Sir Alex Ferguson had famously promised to “knock Liverpool off their perch” when becoming United manager, and achieved it, but their great rivals are now back on top.

And slightly unexpectedly. Few people predicted a Liverpool title at the start of the season, especially with a new manager, Arne Slot, attempting to follow a legend in Jurgen Klopp. Calmly, firmly, Slot imposed his principles. He tightened the defence and made the midfield more balanced and imposing. His man-management, in-game decisiveness and effortless ability to handle the media all added to Slot’s success.
