Tigers make sure of home comforts

LEICESTER, amid plenty of giddy comings and goings, kept their concentration sufficiently to secure a home semi-final next Saturday against Sale.
A pre-match fanfare marked the decisions of Ben Youngs, Dan Cole and Mike Brown to retire and the cheers and tributes continued at the end. In between, Leicester found enough coherent moments to inflict a victory by six tries to two over a Newcastle team who played a full part led by No 8 Freddie Lockwood.
Leicester needed a second-half surge of four tries to highlight the gulf between the two teams including a late try for Ollie Hassell-Collins. The wing's forearm smash into the neck of Newcastle centre Alex Hearle, for which he received a yellow card, provided the spark the match needed in the 49th minute.
The moment forced Leicester to up the pace aided by the arrival of Jack van Poortvliet for Youngs who had played the first 44 minutes.
