Sharpshooter Bourgeois on target to put France on right track

IRELAND rued their misses off the tee as France survived Gabri- elle Vernier’s 20-minute red card to start their campaign with a hard- fought victory.
Both sides scored three tries but Dannah O’Brien failed to convert any of her kicks at goal while Morgane Bourgeois was perfect off the tee, landing all five of her kicks at goal.
France had to see the game out a player down after Vernier was dis missed for head-on-head contact but a late 10-point surge in the final quarter proved pivotal.
Ireland head coach Scott Bemand said: “I think we're trying to rewrite the narrative. We're disappointed and we feel we let a result get away from us. We didn’t control territory and that put us under pressure.
We feel it’s a result we could have had.
