Radwan flies in to make it safe for Leicester
The Rugby Paper
|June 08, 2025
ADAM Radwan delivered a finishing masterclass but it was replacement Izaia Perese who finished Sale off as Tigers made it back to the Premiership final.
Wing Radwan scored two tries, to make it 11 in 10 games for Tigers, and both would be contenders for try of any season but Perese’s stunner got Leicester through.
The Australian scored with his first touch, on 67 minutes, when he hit a great line onto Ben Volovola’s pass and scooted round the Sharks defence to give the hosts a five point.
That was how it ended up but that doesn’t tell the story of a gripping semi-final that saw Leicester hanging on for dear life at the end.
In added time, TMO Stuart Terheege was called on to judge whether Freddie Steward had hit Luke Cowan-Dickie with a no-arms tackle which would have given Sale another attacking chance. The official ruled he hadn't and the roof blew off of Welford Road as the locals celebrated.
Leicester deserved it, just about, for their first half performance but Sale came back after the break to put the skids under them and nearly derail their season.
Tigers had plenty of stars with Julian Montoya, with his family in the stands for the first time here, putting in an epic shift and Ollie Chessum making a mess of the Sharks lineout and showing why he is a Lion.
