Howdy! England pair saddle up to spread the word
The Rugby Paper
|October 06, 2024
JESS Breach and Ellie Kildunne have launched their new podcast Rugby Rodeo with one ambition in mind – to grow the profile of the women’s game.
Research published by the Women’s Sport Trust found that 63 per cent of rugby union fans are unable to name a Red Roses player.
That figure will fall if players engage in self-promotion, a tactic which has become paramount to expanding the women’s game, especially with England on a remarkable 18-match win streak ahead of the home World Cup which is 11 months away.
Hosted by England team-mates Breach and Kildunne, the podcast offers an intimate look into the world of professional women’s rugby, behindthe-scenes stories, and inspiring interviews with fellow athletes and prominent sports figures.
Breach told The Rugby Paper: “I don’t think we’d be doing it if one of our main aims wasn’t to boost the profile of the sport. It’s a different aspect of our lives and women’s rugby. People who don’t have any interest in rugby can also listen which I think is important as it can grow the audience. It’s something fun and different which we wanted to do, so hopefully it will be a great success.”
