Baxter on a high as Chiefs get in groove

IT'S taken a while, but Exeter have finally found their spark, turning a season of frustration and underperformance into one brimming with hope and renewed purpose.

After months of inconsistency, Rob Baxter's side rediscovered their rhythm at just the right time against auld adversaries Saracens at Sandy Park.

Spurred on by a raucous home support, Chiefs delivered some prime 'Devon Beef' to Mark McCall's visitors, who struggled to contain the rampaging home beasts in the final quarter.

Jack InTries from nard, Will Rigg, Tom Wyatt, Ethan Roots and Dan Frost were the highlights, but there was so much more for Baxter to enthuse about.

"We've been talking about trying to re-establish our DNA and what it means to be a Chief - and I think we started to see that," said Baxter. "There was a relentlessness to everything we did and it paid off in the end. It's not our emotion that's been our problem, we've just got to make sure our rugby levels and our decision-making is just as good.

"Coming in today, we knew we were in a pressure situation. The lads were jittery as anything.
