TAYLOR MADE FOR SUCCESS!

The Non-League Football Paper

MATT TAYLOR wants everyone at Wealdstone to lap up their FA Cup success – and keep on looking forwards.

TAYLOR MADE FOR SUCCESS!

The Stones will host League One high-flyers Wycombe Wanderers in the second round in front of the live TV cameras.

It comes after Alex Reid’s late winner saw the National League side knock out League Two Grimsby Town.

Proud boss Taylor achieved the lot in a playing career that took him from Luton Town to the Premier League.

But their win in Cleethorpes will always be something to savour.

“A proud day,” Taylor tells The NLP. “From my perspective, I am so happy for the players to get to experience beating League Two opposition in a wonderful cup.

“We prepared properly and did everything right. In the first half I felt we weren’t at the level I know we can be at. We changed one or two things at half-time – personnel and tactically – and second half we were excellent. We dominated the game – which is never going to be an easy thing to do when you’re playing a team a league above you and, also, away from home.

“So I was really pleased with the players and proud of the football club. It means so much to so many loyal people at Wealdstone to have the opportunity of getting into the second round of the FA Cup.

“For us it’s huge. We’re a fan-owned football club. We know we will be towards the bottom of the league in terms of finances. Anything we can do throughout the season to help boost revenue for the team and the club is brilliant.
