CLUB captain Tom Conlon is desperate not to experience the heartbreak of missing out on a Wembley appearance for a second time.
The midfielder, injured for the 2022 play-off final when Port Vale defeated Mansfield, has been unable to reclaim a starting spot after recovering from another injury lay-off.
Conlon, 29, who was on the bench for Latics’ play-off matches against FC Halifax Town and York City, said: “Unfortunately I didn’t play for Port Vale through injury, but my team-mates managed to get it over the line.
“As captain, it was a great day to lift the trophy. It was memorable and I am using that as momentum to get on the pitch on Sunday.
