YATE Town's preparations for life back at Step 3 have been up- ended by both sides of a bitter boardroom spat quitting the club this week.
Chairman Mark Thorne announced on Tuesday that his position with the Southern League South champions had been made “untenable” on the back of an email from predecessor, fellow director and stadium co-owner Colin Pick.
A fan backlash followed with the club scheduling an open meeting for Thursday but it was subsequently taken behind closed doors.
By Friday afternoon, Pick had announced his departure after 25 years on the board. Fans expressed hope that would pave the way for Thorne to come back in with talks continuing last night but what happens next still hinges on both sides of the argument finding common ground.
It centres around a chunk of ground improvement funding from Bromford Housing as part of the development of more than 100 homes next to Yate’s ground.
