KARL Robinson insisted Salford City’s dramatic defeat to inform Bristol Rovers would prove a “coming-of-age” moment for his high-flying League Two side.

- By Gillian Winthrop

Luke Garbutt had a stoppage-time penalty saved by Gas keeper Luke Southwood, who emerged the hero after a topsy-turvy contest.

Goals from Ellis Harrison and Fabrizio Cavegn denied Salford the chance to go top of League Two, while Rovers climbed into the play-off places.

“I think this might have defined us,” Robinson said after the game.

“In what way? It’s the coming of age of Salford. I’m telling you, if anything, that game has just proved to me how good we are.

“And this is the time for me to stand here in front of you and tell you we’re a good team.
