Saint Piran sweep Lancaster podium

Aggressive gameplan pays off for Cornish team with a second consecutive one-two-three
Saint Piran’s dominance of the Men’s National Road Series continued as they pulled off a one-two-three at the Lancaster Grand Prix, with Zeb Kyffin leading the celebrations.
The Continental team also pulled off a podium clean sweep at the opening round of the series in Lincoln and were even more impressive in Sunday’s second round.
After race winner Kyffin narrowly avoided a crash in the early stages, the Cornwall-based team took command in blustery conditions.
Kyffin was joined by team-mates Jack Rootkin-Gray and Harry Birchill in an early break and, as the race seemed to be coming back together, they attacked again on a climb and only Logan Maclean (AG2R under-23 team) could follow.
The pace was eventually too much for Maclean, leaving the teammates to grow a massive gap of more than five minutes and cross the line as one.
Kyffin finished marginally ahead of Birchill in second and Rootkin-Gray in third. The brutal nature of the race resulted in just 26 finishers from a field of 112 starters.
“It was by no means easy, it was probably one of the hardest days out that we’ve done as a team,” said overall series leader Kyffin.
