Sunrisers Hyderabad have assembled perhaps the best foreign unit in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 season. SRH boasts of some serious pedigree and talent when it comes to foreign recruits. In terms of captaincy, Australia’s Pat Cummins has replaced Aiden Markram. Notably, Cummins led Australia to the ICC World Cup 2023 honor and the ICC World Test Championship 2021-23 title as well. No doubt, SRH have one of the best leaders in global cricket. Also, they spent a fortune landing the Aussie sensation, making him the second-most expensive signing ever in IPL auction history.
SRH have not fared well lately. After five seasons of consistency that included the 2016 IPL trophy win, SRH have changed a lot in their personnel allowing several key players to leave. In the last three seasons, they finished 8th, 8th, and 10th respectively. So Cummins and new bowling consultant James Franklin will need to sort out several things given their bowling didn’t do well as a unit last season. SRH’s change of captaincy across the last 3 seasons is pretty alarming. From David Warner, Kane Williamson, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Markram, and now Cummins, the change up top has been a regular feature. Ahead of the IPL 2024 season, we analyze the complete squad of SRH, which is a big pool with 25 players in the mix.
