With India struggling in all departments against Australia in the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) 2024-25 Down Under, quite a few careers could be on the verge of conclusion. India’s performance in Tests has come under the scanner since their home series against New Zealand, which they lost 0-3, and now Australia are looking strong to reclaim the BGT; the current phase is one of the dullest in the country’s cricketing history and heads are likely to roll.

In this space, we pick four players in the Indian squad touring Australia who should either retire at the end of the series or be asked to step down. They have been given a long rope for far too long but successive failure with either bat or ball has now made it a foregone conclusion, even if they deliver in the remaining part of the Australia tour.
