2024 saw a lot of action when it came to T20Is. This was the year of the ICC T20 World Cup held in the USA and West Indies respectively. India won their 2nd T20 World Cup after beating South Africa in the final. India also dominated the format this year, winning almost everything. There were strong performers like Australia and Sri Lanka, too. In terms of individual performances, several players made their presence felt as the year progressed. Here, we decode the T20I Team of the Year.

Travis Head was solid in 2024. His 539 runs at an average of 38.5 are the second-best ever for an Australian in a calendar year. His strike rate was a sensational 178.47. He started the year with impressive knocks against New Zealand, and after a dream IPL 2024 season, he carried that form into the T20 World Cup 2024. He was the third-highest run-getter in the event, scoring 255 runs at a strike rate of 158.38. He also impressed with a knock of 76 off 43 versus India. He hit one fifty each in the bilateral series against Scotland and England, respectively.

The Sri Lankan experienced wicketkeeper batter did a reasonable job in T20Is this year. In 21 matches, he scored 618 runs at 30.90. He hit three fifties with the best of 86. After failing to capitalise on his starts in the bilateral series against Zimbabwe and Afghanistan, Mendis was at his best versus Bangladesh. After the T20 World Cup, He hit two 40-plus scores against India and then hit an unbeaten 68 against West Indies at home. He slammed 46 versus New Zealand in the recently concluded 1st T20I.
