THE ART OF THE BRICK

The “most famous" exhibition of LEGO art has arrived in Leeds, England. Called The Art of the Brick, it's a chance to see more than 70 unique LEGO sculptures made using over one million bricks — created by the US artist Nathan Sawaya. Through his creations Sawaya said it is his goal “to inspire people to be as creative as they can be".

imageThis exhibition showcases a huge variety of sculptures that Sawaya has created. As well as model animals such as a tiger, there are LEGO versions of famous artworks including Michelangelo's David, Van Gogh's The Starry Night, Leonardo da Vinci's Mona Lisa and Edvard Munch's The Scream. Plus, there's a six-metre-long sculpture of a T. rex and artworks made with the help of award-winning photographer Dean West. Sawaya was a lawyer before he became an artist, and his message to everyone is, “There are many ways to get to where you want to go."

imageThe Art of the Brick is running at Unit 3, Broad Gate, The Headrow, in Leeds city centre. Go to theartofthebrickexpo.com for more information on the exhibition.
