Britain recorded its hottest and sunniest year ever in 2025, the country's meteorological office said on January 2.

In 2025, Britain showed an average temperature of 10.09°C, surpassing the previous record of 10.03°C seen in 2022. This was only the second time since records began in 1884 that Britain's annual mean temperature has exceeded 10°C. The 12 months of 2025 also recorded 1648.5 sunny hours, 61.4 hours more than the previous record set in 2003.
