Fresh battlegrounds and gear. Oh, and a whole new game.

BATTLEFIELD 6

Ever since its record-breaking launch, all eyes have been on Battlefield 6 to keep up the pace – and, let's face it, the community sentiment after a rocky past decade for the series, which is a whole other ball game. For the most part, it has, and Season 1 is no finer example.

Across its three phases, releasing new content every month until the new year, Battlefield 6 Season 1 delivers two new maps, five new weapons (six if you count a melee weapon), two vehicles and one new game mode.

Of these new toys, the maps are undoubtedly the most exciting addition, not least because if Battlefield 6 has been criticised for anything so far, it's that its maps are too small and compact compared to many of the iconic warzones from the past. I love Siege of Cairo, but it's hard to argue that most of the launch maps aren't a tad too restrictive for Battlefield's large-scale toolbox.

imageSeason 1 finally addresses this issue, at least with its Eastwood map coming in the California Resistance update, the second wave of the season. I previewed both maps prior to the launch of the season and found that Eastwood captured that Battlefield magic unlike any other map in Battlefield 6, so much so that it felt like an instant classic.
