The Sony FE 20-70 mm f/4 G lens was introduced in India on 2nd February 2023. We are used to seeing mid-range zooms from various manufacturers with a focal range of 2470 mm

Sony FE 20-70 mm f/4G ₹124,990
This is the first 20-70 mm lens that I have come across. The extra 4 mm on the wide end extends its usability – something that landscape and interiors photographers will love as the lens provides super-wide coverage of approx. 94° (35 mm full frame) as compared to approx. 84° on a 24 mm lens. Some may consider the maximum aperture of f/4 as ‘slow’, but not everyone needs an f/2.8 lens. The f/4 maximum aperture also keeps the lens lighter and more affordable. Let’s see how this lens performs on our test bench…
Design & Build Quality
The Sony FE 20-70 mm f/4 G is designed for full frame Sony E-mount mirrorless camera bodies, but can also be used on Sony E-mount APS-C bodies. The build quality is very good and the lens has a professional feel. The lens is dust and moisture resistant. Filter size is 72 mm. The lens is made in Thailand.
