We're not Sky Sports, who believe they invented football in 1992. Instead, this is an all-time list stretching back to the late 1800s.

Of the top 25 only five - Alan Shearer, Ian Rush, Tony Cottee, Harry Kane and Wayne Rooney - made their debuts in the last 45 years.
