Nightclub closed pending licence review after attack
Yorkshire Evening Post
|November 26, 2025
A nightclub in Leeds city centre has closed temporarily – three weeks after a 17-year-old girl was reportedly raped nearby.
The Backroom, in Call Lane, will remain closed until at least December 16, after West Yorkshire Police called for an urgent meeting to review the nightclub's licence.
It follows the alleged rape of a 17-year-old girl who had been on a night out in the Call Lane area.
She was attacked after she left the venue at around 2.15am on November 9 and left in Assembly Street.
