Connecting communities: New gyratory bridges opened

Yorkshire Evening Post

|

August 04, 2025

Armley Gyratory's three new replacement footbridges are now fully open, forming part of a multi-million-pound scheme to offer improved routes for pedestrians and cyclists at one of the city's busiest junctions.

- by Harriet Sutton

The bridges are over Wellington Road (A58), Spence Lane and Gelderd Road.

They have been installed as part of a £41.96m project at the gyratory, funded by the West Yorkshire Combined Authority via the West Yorkshire Plus Transport fund.

The aim is to connect communities like Wortley and Holbeck with the city centre, with more accessible footways and bridges.
