Writer-director Scott Cooper focuses on a two-year period when the New Jersey-born songwriter frustrated his record label by concentrating on a low-fi passion project.

Springsteen (Jeremy Allen White) completes his 1981 world tour to promote double album The River with two sweat-drenched concert dates in Cincinnati.
