Roundhay Park is set for a renaissance as the home of some of Leeds's biggest shows in history after being granted a licence allowing more fans to attend events in the space. And you have come up with some of your favourite concerts that have passed through our city over the years and how much it cost to see the likes of Madonna and the Rolling Stones 'back in the day'.

In the early days of rock, seeing a band like Deep Purple in Leeds was astonishingly cheap. Commenter Andy Holohan paid just 2/6 (two shillings and sixpence, roughly 13p in modern, decimal currency). This incredibly low price illustrates the accessibility of live music before it became a huge industry.

Multiple fans remembered the exact cost for the Simple Minds gig. Jason Beardsall stated: "Simple Minds in '89...cost £16.50 and, to this day, still the best gig I have ever been to."
