Star Search (Netflix, from January 21)

Before the likes of America's Got Talent, The Voice and American Idol came along, the biggest talent show on US TV had been Star Search. It originally ran from 1983 to 1995 and was resurrected briefly in 2003. Billy Porter was among the winners, with the likes of Adam Sandler, Backstreet Boys, Alanis Morissette, Britney Spears, Conan O'Brien, Christina Aguilera, Sharon Stone, Destiny's Child and Justin Timberlake included in the list of rather impressive competitors across a variety of categories. Now the show is being dusted down for a third time as the search begins for others who have the potential to become global megastars. Anthony A
