These mocktails and alternatives will enhance your alcohol-free experiences
These marvellous mocktails and snazzy alternatives will enhance your alcoholfree experiences, says Sam Wylie-Harris.
Abstaining for a month, zebra striping - alternating between alcoholic and nonalcoholic drinks - or simply taking a detour down sober street, Dry January doesn't have to leave you feeling flat.
On the contrary, with the sober curious movement gathering momentum and the beginning of the year signalling a fresh start - think a healthy lifestyle, balanced diet, and focus on wellbeing - it's a no-brainer to cut back on the booze.
Here's how to get your nonalcoholic fix without compromising on ceremony or flavour...
1. Caleño Mid-Morning Mango Daquiri
Totally tropical... who wouldn't want to rise and shine with this fruity infusion? Lots of fun, Caleño Mango & Passionfruit Tropical Alcohol-Free Rum, (£28.45, 50ml, Amazon), is a riot of exotic fruit flavours with hints of ripe mango, guava, passion fruit and touch of lime. Here's the recipe which packs a punch...
Ingredients: 50ml Caleño Mango & Passion Fruit, 30ml mango (or tropical) juice, 30ml freshly squeezed lime juice, 10ml agave syrup, fresh mango wedge to garnish.
Method: Half-fill a cocktail shaker with ice. Add ingredients, shake vigorously and strain into a chilled coupe glass. Garnish with a mango slice.
2. Belvoir Farm Strawberry & Chamomile Paloma
A fresh take on the classic Paloma, trade tequila for Belvoir Elderflower Cordial (£3.50, was £4.50, 500ml, Waitrose) and delight in the zippy taste sensation; a touch of chamomile tea complements the floral, honeyed flavours beautifully.
