When the daughter rises, the mountains rejoice The inspiring journey of Renuka, who makes Himachal proud

This good news arrives at a time when doors across India are opening wide for girls — when daughters are breaking free from the chains of tradition and creating their own destinies.

From a small village called Parsa in Rohru, Shimla district, this mountain girl reached heights that once seemed impossible —not only for her home state but for the nation itself. In Navi Mumbai, Renuka became a part of the Indian wom: en’s cricket team that lifted the World Cup after 47 years —a historic victory.

While the nation celebrated this triumph, for Renuka , lovingly called Renu by her mother , this achievement carried a deeply personal meaning. Her story is one of perseverance, faith, and silent struggle. And perhaps it became even more poignant because, on the very same day, another woman’ from Himachal broke down on social media, narrating her harrowing story of exploitation — accusing a politician of grave misconduct. The State Women’s Commission had to step in and monitor the matter closely.
