Not pitch perfect for residents
Wishaw Press
|May 21, 2025
Residents and businesses in Cleland are voicing their concerns over the lack of parking spaces at a new football pitch.
The new synthetic community pitch complete with floodlights has been installed by North Lanarkshire Council at a cost of around £1.2 million.
However, residents living near to the facility in Omoa Road, Gray Street and Aberlady Street are concerned that no car park has been built to cope with an expected increase in the number of vehicles.
North Lanarkshire Council has confirmed that parking was deemed “adequate” and additional facilities were not planned as part of the project, but they will continue to monitor the site.
One resident said: “It’s a public park and we always had two pitches, we hold the Gala day and stuff there.
