They really should be here by now.After all, it's a mere 56 years since they were ordered. Where can they be?

At Christmas in 1969 I was supposed to become the proud owner of a pair of Manchester City pyjamas. There would have been sky blue pyjama trousers and a sky blue pyjama top, with a facsimile of the club badge in the centre of the chest.

It was the must-have gift of the year at the turn of that particular decade. Find me a small boy who DIDN'T want a pair of football team pyjamas for Christmas.

Of course I only found out some time into the opening months of 1970 that I had been supposed to receive the Manchester City pyjamas. They were to have been a gift from a generous family friend, who had seen them advertised in the newspaper.
