Student is building a right Royal reputation

A Cornishman living in London tells Olivier Vergnault how he is realising his lifelong passion for photography

An engineering student from Cornwall is steadily making a name for himself with his incredible photography of the Royal family.

Oliver Turrell is currently studying aerospace engineering at Kingston University in London but it’s his portraits of Kind Charles, the Duke and Duchess of Cornwall and other members of the Royal family which have attracted attention on social media.

The 21-year-old from Hayle, who studied at the Camborne Science and International Academy, said he has taken a keen interest in photography for many years, something which has continued to vreate opportunities for him.

Ollie, who is also in the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve through the University of London Air Squadron, said: “Photography has always been a great passion of mine, and has continued to open doors to capture events, starting in Cornwall and now in the UK and abroad - key memories being G7 in 2021, capturing Spaceport Cornwall's launch attempt and last year going out to Normandy for the 80th anniversary of D-Day.”

The Cornishman said capturing members of the Royal family developed over time while living in the capital.
