Warning as snow set to hit Wales over weekend

The snow and ice warning issued by the Met Office

Arctic air has caused plummeting temperatures in recent days, bringing an increased risk of snow and ice to the UK.

Wales is now covered by a yellow warning for snow and ice until Monday. Snow showers are forecast across the country and the worst of the flurries could result in a few centimetres of snow settling widely.

There is a chance of up to 8cm of snow in some inland and high areas, according to the Met Office. People are being warned to expect some travel disruption.

The first yellow warning came into effect at 6pm yesterday and remains in place until 10am today. It covers the following areas: Bridgend, Cardiff, Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion, Conwy, Denbighshire, Gwynedd, Isle of Anglesey, Merthyr Tydfil, Neath Port Talbot, Pembrokeshire, Powys, Rhondda Cynon Taf, Swansea, Vale of Glamorgan and Wrexham.
