Three doubles for Bowen in pursuit of the jockeys’ title
Western Mail
|September 10, 2025
SEAN Bowen's laser-focused assault on the jump jockeys’ championship shows zero signs of slowing down and the rider has enjoyed another flurry of winners recently, including three doubles in the last week.
Bowen became champion for the first time last season and has built up a commanding lead in his bid for a second title
Despite the jumps season not yet being in top gear, the 28-year-old has been relentless in his quest for winners and his long trek to Sedgefield in County Durham on Thursday paid off as he bagged a brace, while An Bradan Feasa struck at Worcester a day later.
Not one for resting on his laurels, Bowen then headed to Stratford on Saturday, when Hamlet's Knight landed a maiden hurdle. He is trained by James Owen, with whom the red-hot jockey has built up a productive partnership.
Bowen's double there was completed by Radharc Na Slaine, successful in a 2m6½f handicap chase for the Pembrokeshire-based David Rees, whose last winner came in February.
