Rare Harry Potter first edition expected to fetch up to £10k

A RARE signed paperback first edition of the debut Harry Potter book could fetch up to £10,600 at auction next month.

The book, Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, signed by its author JK Rowling, was brought in by a member of the public from the Carmarthen area to Rogers Jones and Co Auctioneers and Valuers, at their office in the town’s Picton Terrace.

‘The book will go under the hammer at auction in Cardiff on November 13, with an estimated guide price of between £3,000 and £5,000, but it could reach double that on sale day.

Auctioneer Charles Hampshire, at Rogers Jones and Co said: “This rare copy comes with the now-famous print and spelling mistakes, and of course this one is also signed by JK Rowling, which adds to its value.”
