Police force make bid to develop solar farm

THE largest police force in Wales wants to develop a solar farm at its own headquarters just a mile from a town centre.

Dyfed-Powys Police is the largest geographical police area in England and Wales, covering 4,188 square miles over the four counties of Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion, Pembrokeshire and Powys.
Its headquarters is situated in the Llangunnor area, a short distance from Carmarthen town centre, and the force is now planning to build a solar farm on an undeveloped piece of land within its main base.
‘The plans would see 1,420 photovoltaic (PV) panels installed alongside an associated battery storage system and other ancillary works on the site, which is currently unused.
