WITH a year to go until Wales' Senedd elections, First Minister Eluned Morgan came out fighting in a speech trying to woo voters back to her party.

Her party is projected to face a tough time at the ballot box - especially with a range of changes coming into force which are projected to completely change the electoral picture in Wales.

In her speech yesterday, she criticised the UK Government's winter fuel payment cuts, and called for them to do more to fix Wales’ coal tips and change the formula through which Wales gets money.

The First Minister admitted the results in council elections in England last week - where Labour lost swathes of seats and Reform made huge gains, including winning a Westminster by-election, overturning a Labour majority of 14,000 - had played a part in the nature of her speech saying it had been rewritten to be “more forthright”.

Mrs Morgan said she was losing patience with the UK administration.

“We've got a year to go ago and I’m losing patience,’ she said. “They are very keen for us to promote a partnership in power, and we are keen to play with them when it comes to partnership in power, and it’s already delivered £1.6bn of resources for public services.

“But it's not enough and we need to see more from them and time is ticking for us. They've got time to turn things around. We have very little time to turn things around in Wales, so our patience is running out.

“I'm somebody who does things with real conviction and I’m determined to make a change for the people of Wales. I haven’t got much time, so I am impatient. I need things done. I need less chat and more do, that’s what I expect from my ministers and that’s what I expect now from the UK Government”
