Labour overtaken by Tories in latest grim polling for Starmer

THE CONSERVATIVES have overtaken Labour in terms of vote share, suggests another grim poll for Labour.

- RUTH MOSALSKI Political editor

The poll asked prospective voters who they would vote for at a UK level.

It would leave Labour, the poll projects, with just six seats in Wales - all of which would be in south Wales.

At the July 2024 general election the party took 27 of the available 32 this side of Offa’s Dyke.

Plaid Cymru, currently with four MPs, would, the More in Common poll suggests, gain another seat in the form of Bangor Aberconwy, currently held by Labour.

In terms of vote share, the poll of 16,083 British adults surveyed between November 27 and December 16, 2025, showed Reform UK were way out in front with 31% while the Conservatives were in second with 23%.

Labour, the current ruling party in both London and Wales, came third with 19%. The Liberal Democrats were third with 12% and Greens with 10%.

In a Westminster election that would mean Reform UK were the biggest party with 381 seats. Labour would have 85 seats and the Tories 70.
