I turned to Mounjaro after online trolling – Welsh MP

A WELSH MP has revealed she turned to weight loss injections to shed more than 8st after online trolls targeted her size and appearance.

Carolyn Harris, the Labour MP for Neath and Swansea East, was a size 24 and tipped the scales at 19st when she began taking Mounjaro in October last year.

The weekly jab can help people shed 20% of their body weight and less than a year after starting to use the injections Ms Harris, who is on the maximum weekly dose of 15mg, now weighs 11st and fits into a size 10.

The 64-year-old, a former barmaid and dinner lady, has recently given away 47 bags of clothing, that no longer fits her, to charity.

"The abuse I was receiving online was horrendous and I made the decision to try Mounjaro," Ms Harris told the Sunday Times. "I thought that if I didn't have purple hair and wasn't so fat, then the abuse would stop.

"Although I made the decision for all the wrong reasons, it has actually done me a favour - I am now healthier than I have ever been and fully in control of my weight for the first time in my life. Friends don't recognise me when they walk past me."

Ms Harris, who is funding a private prescription and has never spent more than £150 a month on the injections, says she has a "little bit further to go" before reaching her target weight.
