End Of Level Boss

- CHERYL MULLIN

THE big week is finally here and Santa will be dropping off gifts across the globe tonight.

If you're lucky enough to find a shiny new games console under the tree tomorrow morning, it will probably come packaged with a recent big title a game that shows off the impressive capacity of your new hardware.

But happens when you get bored with that game? Believe it or not, there are some really fun games you can download for nothing.

Just be aware that, as with all 'freemium' games, there are in-game purchases which can be made, so be sure to lock down purchasing rights - especially if the kids play on it. These are six of the best.

FORTNITE

(PEGI 12) PS4, PS5, XBOX ONE, XBOX X/S, Switch, Switch 2, PC, IOS

In the eight years since it launched, Fortnite has cemented itself as a household name. It has seven distinct modes - Battle Royale, Save The World, Fortnite Creative, Rocket Racing, Lego Fortnite, Fortnite Festival and Fortnite Ballistic.

Battle Royale sees up to 100 players fighting to be the last gamer standing, while in Save The World four players collaborate on a common objective on various missions. Fortnite Creative is more of a sandbox game, letting players create their own mini games such as battle arenas and race courses.

Lego Fortnite is a survival crafting mode with a Lego aesthetic, while Rocket Racing - a spin-off of Rocket League - has up to 12 players competing on a race track.

Fortnite Festival is a rhythm game in which players perform songs for a high score, and Fortnite Ballistic - which is still in early access - is a tactical first-person shooter.
