EBBW PULL CLEAR AFTER BALDWIN RED

A MOMENT of madness from centre Corey Baldwin proved costly for Llandovery as they surrendered their unbeaten record in Super Rygbi Cymru after going down 40-22 at Ebbw Vale.

The game turned on the sending-off of former Scarlets and Exeter Chiefs back Baldwin for what appeared to be a stamp on the face of home fullback Evan Lloyd.

It meant the Drovers had to play the final 32 minutes a man down.

Before Baldwin's departure, Llandovery were leading 22-14. Within 10 minutes of him leaving the field, the Steelmen had rocketed into the lead before going on to pick up the win and two priceless bonus points.

“It was definitely a big moment,” said Ebbw head coach Jason Strange on the red card. “I thought Llandovery were really good in the first half. They had good speed of ball.

“[ thought our physicality was off for abit but our accuracy second half, and the intensity, was much better.

“Really pleased with the six points, but full credit to Llandovery. I thought up until that red card, they were really good”

Hooker Ieuan Morris scored twice for Ebbw with his replacement Charlie Manship, wing Ewan Bowden, Dom Franchi and skipper Ethan Phillips also going over. Dorian Jones kicked five conversions.
