CARDIFF City midfielder Joel Colwill has earned his first call-up to the Wales senior squad ahead of the double header against Kazakhstan and Canada.

Wales take on Kazakhstan in a World Cup qualifier at the Astana Arena today before welcoming the Canadians to the Swansea.com Stadium for a friendly next Tuesday.

And Colwill, a junior international at all age grades, will hope he will be able to get his first senior cap under his belt in the coming days.

Tom King and Rhys Norrington-Davies also join Colwill in the squad, with Danny Ward, Jay Dasilva, Joe Rodon and Nathan Broadhead all dropping out.

It comes after a fantastic start to the season for the 20-year-old, backing up impressive loan spells away from the Bluebirds last year.

He dominated in League Two with Cheltenham Town - winning their young player of the year despite being there only until January - before establishing himself in League One with Exeter City earlier this year.
