Winner tells of Al's potential in the aerospace business

A postgraduate working at Leonardo in Yeovil has won the Yeovil Branch Reggie Brie Young Persons’ Lecture competition, with his presentation on aerospace innovation that begins with Al.

The competition, which culminated at the iAero centre in Yeovil recently, challenged young people across the South West to compel their audience with groundbreaking thinking.

As a leader in the aerospace industry, Leonardo is already adopting Al across its business, as well as working to exploit the technology across its products and services. Postgraduate software engineer James Wan clinched the award, after outlining the great potential for expanding the use of Al in the future.

James said: “If you look up something on Google or Bing, it will automatically give you an Al summary at the top. When you use social media, Al is already working behind the scenes to personalise your news feeds, once it has learned which posts you like.
