BRIDGWATER United Women have announced the appointment of Ellie Barton as the club's new safeguarding and wellbeing director.

Former captain to help present stars

Barton, a former captain, needs no introduction to women’s football fans. During her illustrious playing career, Barton, nee Curson, lifted the FA Women’s Super League trophy back in November 2016, cementing her place in the history books. She also earned international recognition, representing the Wales national team.

After hanging up her boots, Barton has gone on to develop a passion for safeguarding and wellbeing, along with teaching, and now recently enjoying motherhood, she brings a wealth of experience and expertise to her new role.

As safeguarding and wellbeing director, Ellie will be responsible for overseeing the club’s safeguarding policies and procedures, ensuring that all players, staff, and volunteers feel safe, supported, and empowered to thrive.

“We are thrilled to welcome Ellie to Bridgwater United Women’s FC in this critical role,” said club general manager, Trevor Jenkins.
