UNITED States President Donald Trump has used an address to the United Nations to claim London wants to “go to sharia law’, as he said Europe was being “invaded” by “illegal aliens”.

- PRESS ASSOCIATION REPORTERS

Speaking to the UN General Assembly in New York yesterday, the US president renewed his feud with London's Mayor, Sir Sadiq Khan, calling him a “terrible, terrible mayor”.

The Republican president also attacked UN assistance for asylum seekers, saying the organisation was “funding an assault’ on Western countries and their borders”.

Mr Trump said: “Europe is in serious trouble. They've been invaded by a force of illegal aliens like nobody's ever seen before. Illegal aliens are pouring into Europe, and nobody's doing anything to change it.”

He added: “I look at London, where you have a terrible mayor, terrible, terrible mayor, and it's been changed, it's been so changed. Now they want to go to sharia law, but you're in a different country, you can't do that.”
