BRISTOL City have ended weeks of speculation and named Gerhard Struber as the club's new head coach on a three-year deal.

Struber 'very excited' to be named Robins boss

The Austrian landed the job around a month after being sacked as manager of FC Koln, just two games before they were promoted from the 2 Bundesliga, the German equivalent of the Championship.

The 48-year-old has previous English experience, less than a year in charge of Barnsley in the Covid-hit season of 2019-20, when he took a team bottom of the Championship and escaped relegation.

He comes to Ashton Gate with City having just secured their highest league finish in 17 years - last term’s sixth place was an unexpected trip into the Championship play-offs, but it ultimately ended with a 6-0 aggregate defeat to Sheffield United.
