Injury list is a concern for Bears, admits Lam

AT Lam says he will not rule out turning to the transfer market after losing fly-half AJ MacGinty to a suspected Achilles injury in the 42-24 win at home to Leicester Tigers on Sunday.

- JOHNEVELY

MacGinty limped off after less than 15 minutes following a tumble off the ball. To make matters worse, his halfback partner Harry Randall came off before halftime with a hamstring strain and, after the break, Gabriel Ibitoye pulled up while chasing his own kick.

Bears director of rugby Lam said: “AJ looks like he has done his Achilles. That looks the most serious. Harry Randall and Gabriel Ibitoye are hamstring injuries.

“One thing about AJ, he’s so professional. In the past he’s come back quicker, so it's a great challenge for our medical team.”

The relief for Lam is summer signing Tom Jordan expertly moved from fullback to fly-half to replace the USA international, walking off with 14 points and the player of the match award.
