A PETITION is calling for Bristol's harbour to be made safer after two bodies were pulled from the water in less than a month.

Earlier this week, the body of missing 50-year-old Matthew was pulled from the harbour after he was last seen near the water. A file is being prepared for the coroner, said Avon and Somerset Police.
The news came after police officer Rehaan Akhtar, 28, was recovered from the water on the morning of Monday, November 24.
A petition on Change.org was created by Emma Miller on Tuesday, December 16, which calls for safety measures to be installed in the area to "prevent further loss of life".
It asks for railings and clear signage to be installed, as well as CCTV cameras to provide crucial footage in emergencies.
The petition said: "Over the past decade, Bristol's vibrant harbour has witnessed multiple drownings, leaving families devastated and communities heartbroken.
"Despite these tragic incidents, no substantial safety measures have been implemented to prevent further loss of life. As a concerned member of the Bristol community, I urge our local government to take immediate action to make Bristol harbour safer for everyone.
"Bristol harbour is a popular destination for residents and tourists alike, offering a wealth of activities and bustling nightlife. However, its appeal should not come at the cost of human lives.
"Current safety measures are inadequate, particularly for protecting those participating in said nightlife, where alcohol can impair judgment and increase the risk of accidents in the water.
