England get off to a flyer as South Africa crumble

LINSEY Smith was thrilled to play a starring role in England’s dominant ten-wicket win over South Africa yesterday.

England enjoyed a thumping victory in their Women’s Cricket World Cup opener after bowling out the Proteas for just 69 and Smith was the pick of the bowlers, finishing with three for seven from four overs.
The spinner claimed the huge scalp of captain Laura Wolvaardt in only the second over before bowling Tazmin Brits and Marizanne Kapp.
Smith made her ODI bow for England against the West Indies this summer before playing in the India series and she expressed her pride at helping the team claim victory in their World Cup opener.
