HOW divided this country is. How perceptions are utterly contradictory.
-
The recent Banksy cartoon on the wall of the Royal Courts of Justice showed a judge using his gavel to pound a protester who holds up a placard in a vain attempt to protect themselves.
A correspondent (Letters, September 27) asserted that the protester was “right-wing... with legitimate concerns’
One example of right-wing activity here was the recent “Unite the Kingdom” march, which involved between 110,000 and 150,000 people. It was later claimed by those on the march that there had been 26 arrests, and eight were marchers and 18 were counter-demonstrators who were there to protest peacefully.
The police stated that 23 out of the 24 that they arrested were marchers and only one was a counter-demonstrator. The police are still looking for 10 other marchers who they wish to interview about criminal activity, and 26 police officers were injured during the march when bottles and flares were thrown - three were critical injuries. Who should we believe?
