Stars Mark Wahlberg and Michelle Monaghan discuss the delights of shooting in London as they return for their action-comedy The Family Plan 2. By LYNN RUSK
IT has been two years since the release of the action-comedy film The Family Plan, in which Mark Wahlberg starred as Dan Morgan, a husband and father of three who was also a former covert assassin.
The film, which also starred Michelle Monaghan as his wife, Jessica, and Zoe Colletti and Van Crosby as their teenage children, Nina and Kyle, followed the Morgan family as they fled to Las Vegas under the guise of a road trip after Dan’s past caught up with him.
Now, the cast have reprised their roles for The Family Plan 2, with the addition of Reda Elazouar and Game of Thrones’ Kit Harington.
Directed by Simon Cellan Jones, The Family Plan 2 sees the Morgan family, including younger son Max played by twins Theodore and Peter Lindsey, travel to London and Paris for the ‘perfect’ Christmas break, only for Aidan, a mysterious figure from Dan’s past, played by Kit, to appear with unfinished business.
An international game of cat-and-mouse ensues as Dan and his family battle, bicker and bond their way through a series of bank heists, holiday hijinks and car chases across scenic European locations.
"It was lovely filming in London," says Daddy's Home star Mark, 54.
"I've worked here before, but it was always kind of the same: get up in the morning when it’s dark, drive an hour to some studio or into a forest, work out there in the wet, cold, and rain, then drive back into the city. If it was dark, we wouldn't get to see or experience anything."
The Departed star adds: "Now I'm shooting all over central London.
